Typing either just opens the materials palette. In MEP there's a Tool Palette that has Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, etc, palettes within the Tool Palette. Using those 3D design tools creates what they call AEC components, as opposed to 3D objects. Those components don't seem to be affected by anything you do in the Materials Palette.

And 3D objects that can be created with plain AC or MEP don't seem to be affected by the Materials Tool found within the Architectural Tool Palette (within the Tools Palette). No Shame Pepper Rare more. I'll keep searching. Thank you for your help.
